The department provides a wide range of laboratory testing for the diagnosis and treatment of acquired and genetically inherited thrombotic and haemorrhagic disorders and quantitative analysis of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs).
We are designed as the Hub Laboratory for the North and West Yorkshire Haemophillia Network and provide support to the Adult Haemophillia Comprehensive Care Centre (CCC) at St’James University Hospital and the Paediatric CCC a the Leeds General Infirmary. We are a specialist coagulation referral laboratory for Trusts within the Yorkshire and Humberside regions.
We work closely with the medical staff of the Haemophillia network and participate in regional MDT meetings. We provide laboratory based training in the use and interpretation of specialist coagulation tests. We also work closely with the Blood Sciences Department to provide technical and scientific advice in regards to the provision of routine and specialist haemostasis testing.
The Specialist Coagulation Laboratory is open 08:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday
An out of hours emergency service is provided 17:00 to 08:00 Monday to Friday and at weekends. Any urgent requests must be agreed with the on-call Consultant Haematologist who can be contacted via the switchboard at SJUH 0113 243 3134 or LGI 0113 243 2799.
