Antenatal screening service for Down’s, Edwards’ and Patau’s syndromes
Our laboratory provides Antenatal Screening for Down’s, Edwards’ and Patau’s syndromes in first trimester (combined screening) and for Down’s syndrome in second trimester pregnancies (quadruple test). The laboratory works very close with screening coordinators across the region to meet the service specifications outlined by the Foetal anomaly screening programme and to ensure a safety delivery of the screening services.
We screen approximately 17,000 patients each year using dedicated equipment and IT systems.
Information on the screening programme for healthcare professionals can be found on the GOV.UK population: Programme overview
We are located at St James’s University Hospital site, Block 46, Chancellor Wing
The screening laboratory is open from 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday.
