The team is made up of inspiring, resourceful, and courageous individuals aged 18 to 86. They participate in a wide range of sports (both for fun and competition), social activities, fundraising, and charity events. These dedicated members come together not just to compete but to foster a sense of community and support among each other.
We are always grateful for any assistance with fundraising efforts. Contributions help support the entire team in attending the British Transplant Games (BTG), covering costs for new equipment, kits, and registration fees. Your support ensures that our team can continue to thrive, participate, and inspire others, showcasing the incredible resilience and spirit of transplant recipients.
The Leeds Adult Transplant Team at the British Transplant Games
In 2022, the BTG were held in Leeds, where we proudly entered our largest team ever. Our contingent included 57 competitors and 27 spectators, making us the largest team at the games that year. Currently, our team has over 80 active members and supporters, showcasing the strength and unity of our community.
While only transplant recipients can compete in the games, supporters play a vital role by participating in social events and cheering on the athletes. We invite you to come see what these games are all about and be part of an inspiring and life-affirming event.
Sporting events include: running, swimming, cycling, tennis, snooker, squash, volleyball, basketball, darts, badminton, netball and athletics. There is a very special event called ‘The Donor Run’ which is 3km or 5km and takes place to remember all of your donors and their families.
The video below shows some special thank you messages to everyone who supported Team Leeds in the British Transplant Games in 2022.
British Transport Games – Thank you’s
“I’m Kirsty, the Leeds Adult Transplant Team manager, and on behalf of myself and the whole team, I would like to extend a huge thank you for all of your support and contributions in making the British Transplant Games in Leeds this year such a huge success. It was so special for our team to be back together, reunited after years of shielding, and competing in the sports they love, making their donors proud.
The British Transplant Games is a truly inspirational and unique event, bringing together transplanted athletes, donor families, and living donors as a transplant community.”
“Hello everyone, my name’s Lisa, and I’m very lucky to be the Leeds Children’s Transplant Team manager. I just wanted to say a great big thank you to all our supporters. Thanks to you, our children had a wonderful time at the British Transplant Games. We had a wonderful kit, we had a wonderful time, and more so, we celebrated the gift of life that many of our children had been given thanks to organ donation.
Thanks to your support and kindness, we had a wonderful time, and our children really can’t thank you enough. On behalf of everyone, thank you.”
Children at the event:
“Thank you to all who supported the Leeds team at the British Transplant Games. We really appreciate it!”
“We had so much fun, thanks!”
