ACJ Phase 4 (Discharge Summary)

In the video below you will find further information to support your recovery.

6 Weeks Post Injury

Hello,

My name is Andy Brogdon, and I am an orthopaedic specialist physiotherapist.

By now, you should be six weeks post-injury and have entered Phase Three of your rehabilitation program. The exercises you’ve been doing should have improved your movement and overall function.

It’s important to note that injuries like yours typically take about six weeks to heal. However, it’s not uncommon to experience some pain or swelling for up to three months after the injury. Continue using pain relief as needed.

If you are happy with your progress and recovery, you can stop the exercises. You may return to sport six weeks post-injury, as long as you feel ready to do so.

We do not routinely follow up on this type of injury. However, if you continue to experience pain after three months, please contact us for further consultation.

If we do not hear from you within three months, you will be discharged back to the care of your general practitioner.

PHASE 1 (0 to 2 weeks) PHASE 2 (2 to 6 weeks) PHASE 3 (6 weeks onwards)
