When and where?
We currently run between 8 and 10 consultant-led clinics and 3 nurse-led clinics per week. These numbers also encompass our bi-monthly drug allergy clinics.
Our clinics are currently based either in:
- Children’s Outpatients, C Floor, Martin Wing, LGI, Leeds
- Outpatients Department, Wharfedale Hospital, Otley
Your appointment letter will indicate which location your appointment will be at. Unfortunately due to high demand there may be a period of time between the referral to our service and your child’s appointment.

What to expect
On arrival to the clinic, a member of staff will measure your child’s height and weight. You will then be seen by one of the allergy consultants, or the specialist allergy nurse. The clinic appointment will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your child’s allergies, any concerns you have and establish a plan for management.
All members of our allergy team have been specially trained in caring for children with allergies, and our team consists of doctors, nurses and dietitians.
There are various types of allergy tests, including skin prick tests and blood tests. Your consultant or nurse specialist will decide which tests are necessary. The allergens tested are decided according to your child’s allergy history. We tend to use skin prick testing more often than blood tests.
You will receive a plan on how to manage your child’s allergy at home, school and nursery.
