Working across the matrix of Research and Innovation (R&I), we:
- Support pre-award activities with guidance from the Grant Funding Development Manager
- Facilitate study set-up processes in collaboration with the Research Assurances & Approvals Facilitation team (RAAFt), the R&I Finance Team, the Research Contracts Manager and the Business Managers
- Provide on-study support from the Assistant Business Manager

Providing finance review, whilst also overseeing Research Delivery Teams recruitment to time and target and Income and Expenditure performance.

Finance requests
For finance requests, please email the Grant Funding Development Manager (GFDM).
You will need to include the study title in the subject of the email.
The GFDM will need the following information to be able to contact the correct accountant:
- Study title
- Funding call with web link
- Clinical Service Unit (CSU)
- Estimated start date
- Estimated duration (months)
- Will you need finance to sign off the application?
For each member of staff, please provide the following information:
- Full name/Agenda for Change (AfC) band or equivalent
- Start date on the study
- Duration on the study (months)
- Whole time equivalent (WTE) or hours
If you reach out to the accountant yourself, please copy the GFDM into the email so the request can be tracked.
Finance requests can take up to 2 weeks to process.
You need to start collecting this information as early as possible in case you request any changes to your request. Each change can take another 2 weeks to process.
