Following an injury to the nose there is often swelling which makes it difficult to assess whether the nose has changed shape.
A doctor in the emergency department will examine you to ensure there are no immediate complications as a result of your nasal injury.
Between 5-7 days after your injury the swelling to your nose should start to resolve, please check the shape of your nose once the swelling reduces.
If you feel that your nose has changed shape and you would like this correcting then this can usually be performed under local anaesthetic in clinic, (children may require a general anaesthetic).
Nasal fractures heal quickly and it is important that you are seen in clinic within 2-3 weeks of your injury so please contact us for an appointment as soon as possible if you need to be seen.
If you are not concerned about the shape of your nose and you have no problems breathing through your nose you do not require an appointment.
Please contact the ENT outpatient department Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 13:00 on 0113 392 8034 or 0113 392 3413 and ask for a nasal fracture appointment if required.
Please note we would only be able to correct any deviation that is a result of the most recent nasal injury.
