A supra network Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) has been established to discuss the diagnosis and management of patients with skin lymphoma from Hull and Yorkshire Coast Cancer Network, North Trent Cancer Network (NTCN) and Yorkshire Cancer Network (YCN). The purpose of the MDT is to allow pooling of expertise in this relatively rare type of lymphoma and to make sure we follow the Improving Outcome Guidance for Skin Cancer. The meeting is based at St James’s Hospital in Leeds.
Your treatment and care is carefully planned by a group of health professionals who are experts in skin lymphoma. This group is called a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT). Your treatment plan and care will be discussed at the regular MDT meeting.
The MDT includes the following staff:
- Consultant Haematologist – a specialist in blood disorders.
- Oncologist – a specialist in cancer.
- Consultant Dermatologist – a specialist in skin disorders.
- Consultant Dermatopathologist
- Specialist Nurse or Key Worker.
- Histopathologist – a specialist who studies body tissues.
- MDT Co-ordinator – the person who organises the meetings.
Every member of the team has an important role in planning your treatment and care. This makes sure you have the highest standard of care. Following each meeting, information about your diagnosis and treatment options is always added to your medical records.
Your doctor will discuss your treatment choices with you at your next hospital appointment. During this appointment please ask if you have any concerns or questions about your treatment. You may find it helpful to bring a list of any questions you may have. If you hear any words or phrases that you do not understand, please ask your doctor or a member of your healthcare team what it means. It does not matter how many times you ask. We can also give you written information about your diagnosis, treatment and treatment choices. If you would like a copy of this discussion it will be sent to you by post.
Key Worker
All patients will be offered the help and support of a Key Worker. The Key Worker is usually your Clinical Nurse Specialist. They will provide you with information and support and provide a link to other members of the MDT.
This section of the leaflet is to be filled out by your Key Worker please use the PDF link for the leaflet at the top of this page to see how your physical leaflet will look.
