Right aortic arch is a common condition affecting around 1% of the population. In the majority of patients this causes no problems at all. However, occasionally it indicates that a vascular ring is present. A small surgical procedure is needed if your baby has symptoms and a vascular ring is identified on a CT scan.
If your child has any of the following symptoms please contact the children’s cardiac nurse specialists or your paediatrician at your local hospital:
- Noisy breathing
- Choking on feeding
- Difficulty swallowing
We may then arrange for your child to have a CT scan prior to their appointment.
