The stitches used in your wound are made from a material which is absorbed naturally by the body; therefore, they do not need to be removed.
They will usually start to absorb in-between 5 – 10 days after insertion.
If the knot causes any discomfort, it can easily be trimmed off and this is something that can be dealt with at your local GP surgery by the practice nurse.
Keep the wound dry for seven days after the stitches have been put in.
If there is any inflammation, undue pain or discharge, please return immediately; otherwise, there is no reason to revisit the department.
