Ask R&I Sessions
askR&I sessions are open to all LTHT staff and provide an opportunity to ask questions related to research and clinical trials. The sessions cover various topics within the research area, offering a platform for sharing, discussion, updates, and information gathering.
The upcoming session is scheduled for 15 October 2024 at 2pm. It will be held in person at the R&I Centre and accessible via MS Teams.
During these sessions, members of the R&I CSU, including representatives from business and finance, innovation, research data and information, research governance, and research team leaders, will be available.
Past questions have included inquiries such as, “Does NHS indemnity cover staff who work outside NHS premises?”, “Do I need additional approval when consent is deferred?” and “Where can I find medical calibration certificates?”
Previous sessions have been well-received, with 62 attendees at the first session and 40 at the most recent one.
Questions and topics for discussion can be submitted in advance or raised during the session.
AQUIRE Event
The Research and Innovation Centre was delighted to host the 4th AQUIRE event on July 10. Denise Ross, Head of Healthcare Professions Academic Development, opened the event, followed by a welcome from Magnus Harrison, our Chief Medical Officer. He presented three clinical and operational themes to improve patient care and staff efficiency, emphasizing that including the ‘research and innovation’ thread will enhance the robustness of all three themes. Jimmy Parvin provided an overview of how the ‘research’ thread underpins the Leeds Improvement Method. At the same time, Ai Lyn Tan spoke about how research happens in LTHT and celebrated its high local, regional, and national profile.
Over 30 people attended the event, representing various professions, such as doctors, nurses, AHPs, pharmacists, and operational managers. The event promoted a collaborative environment, with representatives from entities including Leeds Hospital Charity, the R&I team (Data, Research Academy, PPIEP, Innovation, Research ethics, grant and fellowship applications), the LIM team, and LTHT clinical academics. Sarah Hanbridge, Chief Clinical Information Officer, delivered an inspiring presentation about her team’s ambitious project plan to make LTHT fully paperless, highlighting the substantial potential impact on the ability to extract non-identifiable data from patient records for care evaluation.
The next AQUIRE event will take place on 9 October 2024
