At Leeds Teaching Hospitals, we are committed to being a leading force in environmental matters, with the goal of becoming one of the greenest NHS Trusts in the UK.
Recognising the significant threat that climate change poses to our health, we understand that reducing harmful carbon emissions is essential for improving health and saving lives. We wholeheartedly endorse the NHS target of achieving net zero by 2040.
Acknowledging that the NHS contributes 5% of all UK carbon emissions, we understand our role as a significant part of the problem and, importantly, as a key part of the solution.
Our vision, long-term goals, and priority actions are detailed in our Green Plan and Estates Decarbonisation Strategy. You can find more information about the work we are doing by browsing the pages in this section.
Addressing climate change requires a substantial and sustained effort from our staff, suppliers, patients and partners and it needs to be a shared priority for the Trust’s community.
We are currently on track to meet the NHS 2040 net zero target
