What to expect:
- Your eye may feel achy or gritty, if the discomfort is unbearable please use simple over the counter painkillers.
- You may experience slight oozing of blood-stained fluid from your wound. If you experience heavier bleeding than this please seek further advice
- If you are given eye ointment/drops to take home. This may be for use either in to the eye OR to the eyelid wound. Use these as instructed.
- Eye ointment can blur your vision but this will gradually improve. DO NOT drive whilst your vision is blurred.
- If you need to clean the eye, wash your hands, then use sterile cotton wool and cooled boiled water to wipe very gently from the nose outwards.
Contact us if:
- Your vision deteriorates.
- If you experience severe pain, not relieved by painkillers.
- If you develop a sticky green/yellow discharge from the eye.
- If you experience new floaters.
- If you injure your eye.
