Steve has over 20 years’ experience as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at the Trust and was previously Medical Director for Operations, and Clinical Director of Emergency & Specialty Medicine for 10 years before this.
With a solid background in clinical operations management, Steve has a strong understanding of transformational change and strategic direction setting and has previously led several digital projects at the Trust as Senior Responsible Officer (SRO). This includes the implementation of a new electronic discharge advice note (eDAN), championing its use to transform how teams use this functionality to improve patient care and colleague experience and support patient flow.
I’m delighted to welcome Steve to the Digital team. He is well-connected and highly respected as a senior clinician, bringing considerable clinical and digital leadership experience. Steve is a fantastic addition to our leadership team and will play an important role in shaping and delivering our digital strategy and plans.

Commenting on his appointment, Steve said: “I’m joining the Digital team at an exciting time after we’ve completed so much fantastic work to support IT resilience, and it’s important that we capitalise on that. I have a real passion for engaging people so I’m looking forward to bringing together clinical experts with systems experts to co-produce improvements and new ways of working.”
Steve is also Regional Clinical Advisor for Urgent & Emergency Care, North East & Yorkshire, Chair of the Scan 4 Safety Programme, and a Non-Executive Director for GS1 UK. He will continue working as Consultant in Emergency Medicine at the Trust and starts his new role on Monday 11 November.
