Additional information
Used to study hypo- and hyperandrogenism in men and women and to assess pubertal status in children. Other tests, such as gonadotrophins, may aid in diagnosis. Samples from the following patient groups will be reflexed for a TMS testosterone: children under 16 years; all females; males with a testosterone <8 nmol/L, or if from endocrine consultant, <12 nmol/L. Additionally, all samples from patients with undetermined gender “U” will be reflexed for a TMS testosterone manually (during Clinical Scientist validation).
