Course Description
Course content will address the specific role of the dental nurse to support patient care and link to other services such as hospital, community, social services, health visitors, midwifery, and school teams.
Aims
The aim is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively support paediatric dental care.
Objectives
The programme will discuss and describe:
- Underpinning knowledge about measuring and recording plaque is covered, together with application of fluoride varnish. These topic areas require a workplace mentor or witness to observe, feedback and sign off a clinical reflective workbook.
- Effective behaviour management techniques appropriate to the needs of the individual
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, you will be able to apply knowledge and understanding to supporting paediatric dental care and ensuring positive experience for young patients.
Applying
- Applicants must be GDC registered
- Dental nurses must have access to a digital device (with camera and mic) and have internet connectivity
- Registration with eLfH is required.
- Completion of a workplace mentored reflective Log Book is required to evidence competency
- Independent learning is required between sessions
- Attendance to the programme constitutes 18 hours of verifiable CPD.
