Education will be delivered via MS Teams over 4 half day sessions, allowing 1 month between for independent learning.
Dental nurses who have an Oral Health post qualification or have achieved a certificate in Fluoride Application can offer prevention pathways within their competencies, but must still attend all sessions of the Oral Health Champion training.

The objective of the course is to be able to explain and discuss:
- The role of the Oral Health Champion
- Revision on Anatomy, Caries Process and Prevention
- Basic Oral Health education including knowledge of motivational measuring plaque and applying fluoride varnish
- Importance of effective behaviour change conversations
- Utilising One-Part-Per-Million Pathways and MECC
- Applicants must be GDC registered.
Further Information
- It is mandatory to attend all sessions. Any missed sessions may result in removal from the training course.
- Dental nurses must have access to a digital device (with camera and mic) and have internet connectivity.
- Registration with eLfH is required.
- Completion of a workplace mentored reflective competency Logbook is required.
- Independent learning is required between sessions There are 12 hours of verifiable CPD attached to the course.
