Additional Information
- The results in HIV patients, in patients undergoing immunosuppressive therapy, or in patients with other disorders leading to immunosuppression, should be interpreted with caution.
- A rise in CMV antibody level may occur in patients with measles, varicella-zoster virus (VZV) or herpes simplex virus (HSV) due to antigenic cross reactivity within the herpesvirus family.
- Patients with acute EBV (Epstein-Barr Virus) infection may show increased reactivity to other viruses, including CMV.
- Samples from patients routinely exposed to animals or animal serum products can demonstrate this type of interference potentially causing an anomalous result.
