The Prostate team can make referrals to The District Nursing team, Leeds welfare rights team, community palliative care teams and Leeds continence CUCS team.
Signs and symptoms
The symptoms of prostate cancer can include:
- Frequent urination
- Nocturia (increased urination during the night)
- Difficulty starting and maintaining a steady stream of urine
- Haematuria (blood in the urine)
- Dysuria (painful urination)
- Difficulty achieving an erection
- Painful ejaculation

Diagnostic tests
It is common to have a number of tests to diagnose Prostate Cancer and these can include:
- PSA blood test
- Digital rectal examination (DRE) – an examination of the prostate through the wall of the rectum
- MRI scan
- Prostate biopsy – this involves using thin needles to take small pieces of tissue from the prostate
- CT scan
- Bone scan
- PET scan
